"Boundaries" is a project that has been created to bring together "classical musicians" and "popular musicians" in a creative environment that stimulates exchange of ideas and encourages an exploration of the ever-widening common ground between these two art forms. Areas in which the two genres can function creatively together and can be enhanced by the association is a particular focus of this project.

Well-known ABC personality and guitarist Lucky Oceans will lead the project.

The use of music technology will be integrated into all aspects of the project and the relevance of this resource explored in relation to traditional "classical musicians

A period of intensive workshops and rehearsals will lead to a public performance of a new "composition" bridging the notated classical style of composition with the improvised popular style. The project will create an environment where professionals from the differing styles can combine with community musicians in producing the creative end result.

The project will have a life of its own within the Festival but will also allow for a natural flow between other events occurring at the Festival. The possibility of exchanges between musicians working in differing musical genres will add a special new dimension to the Festival.
